Describe Your Business
Nima Farm Limited specializes in raising and distributing poultry birds and producing eggs. Our customer base includes hotels, market men and women, barbecue stand owners, individuals, and families. Currently we are only producing broiler chickens because we don’t have enough capital to raise layers for egg production. Most of our customers who want to buy eggs, especially the wholesalers, go to our competitors or to the market to get their eggs. If given a grant, we will implement our expansion initiatives by providing more space for both the broilers (for meat production) and layers (for egg production). Currently, our farm has a capacity of 200 broilers which we target increasing to 1000 birds after one year of receiving a grant. We plan to create space for 100 layers and increase it to 800 layers after 1 year of receiving a grant. For every $7.27 revenue generated per live broiler sales, we spend $4.06 expense per unit, leaving us with a Net income of $3.21 (44% Net Profit Margin) depending on the number of mortalities. We want to reduce the mortality rate and increase revenue by providing alternative electricity sources using a 3Kva Alternator ($188.65) to help regulate the temperature of the farm during brooding and afterward, and also to give them lightning to see and eat at night. Layers take 18-19 weeks from day old to start producing eggs.
They produce 1 egg per day on average, 1 crate of egg (24 eggs) is sold for #3500 Naira ($2.20). With 100 layers, that is 4 crates per day which gives a revenue of $8.8 per day, more than $44 a week, and up to $176 a month. This will increase not only our cash flow but also our revenue.
Explain the Problem
Due to increasing consumer demand and limited supply of protein-rich food sources, and the rising preference for organic and ethically sourced products, with our commitment to quality and sustainability, we are well-positioned to capitalize on this trend and capture a large share of the market, ensuring customer satisfaction and brand loyalty. We use our brand-packaged services as a competitive advantage to compete more favorably in the market by meeting the needs of our customers at an affordable rate.
Our Business Mission Statement
Our mission is to improve customer satisfaction and brand loyalty by offering quality products and services at an affordable rate, reducing the stress of going to the market and having to process the birds themselves. We are committed to building lasting customer relationships while promoting responsible business conduct and enhancing our brand reputation.
Our service deliverables include:
- Live Chicken delivery: We offer whole live chicken sales with sizable weight up to 3kg to our customers at an affordable rate.
- Processed packaged delivery: We offer processed delivery to our customers who may not have the time to process the birds. At request, we include the needed parts including the chicken organs.
- Home Delivery: For our customers who live in remote areas, we offer a home delivery service at an affordable rate for their convenience.
- Pre-order delivery and processing (for hotels): We supply processed birds to our hotel customers and make them readily available for cooking.
- Wholesale, Retail, and Consumer purchases: We offer wholesale purchases to our customers who buy in bulk (clearance) at a discounted price. We also sell to consumers and retailers, also at affordable rates.

Why we chose this business
I used to take care of my mother’s local poultry birds growing up. Afterward, I decided to try having my own farm. I went to my ward member who was into poultry to learn how to raise broilers. I was under her supervision while running my own farm at her place. Later, my partner and I decided to work together and grow the farm into a large company since we share the same passion for the poultry business. Our main goal is to have a business that will help us pay tuition for our online degree with BYU Pathway Connect and to be self-reliant. We are poised for growth and committed to success and hope to generate enough revenue to help meet our goals as a company and as partners.
