The Global Service Rotary eClub…

Most people see poverty as a problem to be solved with a checkbook. We see it as a barrier holding back some of the most creative minds on the planet.

Who we are We are a group of friends who believe that a business plan can be just as powerful as a prayer. We are makers, thinkers, and builders who have found our second home in the vibrant markets and startups of Africa.

Why this matters Because talent is universal, but opportunity is not. When you connect a creative entrepreneur in Africa with a global network of friends, the “lump in your throat” isn’t just emotion—it’s the realization that you are watching a family’s future change in real-time.

Who benefits The families who trade poverty for a paycheck, and the members of this club who trade a “comfortable life” for a meaningful one.

Our Values We value the dignity of work over the dependency of a gift. We believe that a friendship across an ocean is the shortest distance between a problem and a solution.

Our online Rotary club is for those who want to make a global impact without being limited by geography. Our members come from across the United States and beyond, united by a shared commitment to service, ethical leadership, and meaningful international engagement. We focus on hands-on global service projects—especially those that empower entrepreneurs, strengthen communities, and create sustainable solutions—by working alongside Rotary clubs, nonprofits, and trusted local partners around the world. Through virtual meetings and collaborative service, we make it possible for busy professionals and globally minded volunteers to serve where the need is greatest. Our flagship service project, Rotary Shark Pond, connects sponsor-donors to small entrepreneurs in areas where the $US dollar goes a long way toward starting a business that lifts families out of poverty…permanently. We do this through a fun “pitch show” called Rotary Shark Pond. Entrepreneurs are prepared for the show by Rotarian committee members from clubs in Africa and the US. These budding entrepreneurs then compete for startup funds to launch their businesses. Sponsors choose who they would like to support and a friendship blossoms as they work together on the business. Watch the video to see how it works. The Global Service Rotary eClub partners with independent nonprofit organizations, including Entrapov – Entrepreneurs Against Poverty, to support sustainable international service projects.
