GLASS Catering Services offers tasty, colorful, appetizing, healthy foods for events such as weddings and other social gatherings, we also run a fast food restaurant in Limbe the busiest business town in Blantyre Malawi where we provide people with mostly local foods. Because of our creativity and skills we attract a lot of customers. Our main focus is not only to win, but to make our customers win too, by providing them services that brings value for their money.
If given the grant we will purchase a 210 liters deep freezer costing about 330$ that will provide us with enough room for storing our inventory for example beef and chicken and we will also be able to buy them in bulks at a wholesale price and in turn reduce the cost of our expenses there by increasing our profit margin. We will also purchase 3 more big pots 120$ that will help us meet the demand on the market. We will use 100$ to pay for a bigger place. And 100$ will be used to buy things like chairs and table clothes for the new place. We will also use 150$ to add more plates, chef dishes and others utensils. We will use 200$ to buy foodstuffs. For example maize and rice, since they have been recently harvested and they are at their minimum price, which is to our advantage.
On every 1.4$ in the business we spend 0.80$ in expenses which include both fixed and variable expenses and we remain with a net profit of 0.6$ which is 44% profit margin.
Income statement calculated in US $ which includes hypothetical loan repayment to show impact to finances. From the months of October to May.

How do customers know we exist: My business is along a path that leads to and from different parts of Limbe Market, and mostly the yummy flavors coming from my kitchen do the advertising. And our waitress does a great deal of searching for orders.
Why I choose this business: Firstly I love food and I love cooking and I have been in the business with my in-laws for years and that is where I got the courage of opening my own.
My business has already started, I have been in the business for 8 months now. I have been working for my in-laws for about 10 years where I got experience. This business is our only source of income.
My family picture
This is my Family which consist of myself, my husband and our two children Sean and Stacy. We got married in 2009. our first born Sean was born four years later in 2013, and in 2015 we were blessed again with our girl Stacy. In 2011 we went to South Africa to look for greener pastures where we stayed for 4 years, and because things did not go as we planned we decided to come back home and start life again. We started working for my husband’s Aunt again in order to sustain ourselves and our children. Though we were working for her, life was still hard and mostly we depended on church welfare until we started our own small business last year in October. Through this catering business we have been able to provide for ourselves. And this is the only source of income for our family.
