Amah Farms Business Plan

DESCRIBE YOUR BUSINESS:

The piggery business is a lucrative business and has an inflection resistance especially here in Aba Nigeria where I live and operate. I buy winners ( piglets after 6 weeks) and raise and sell them after 3 months with a profit margin of 44% and above for each month. The profit margin for this business increases with an increase in the number of pigs available for sale and for pork meat.

I sometimes stock them to be slaughtered for pork meat. This pork meat approach gives me a higher profit margin. When I breed a sow ( female pig due for crossing), it gives birth to a minimum of 8 piglets and a maximum of 12.

I also have many customers who patronize my pork meat. If I am given the money I will focus on increasing my daily revenue from $2.9 to $12. I will increase the number of my sows to 10 with the prospect of 80 to 100 pigs after 4 months. Feeding is never a problem because I have inexpensive local sources. This makes my business highly scalable since I do not have to spend much on feeds. Moreover, pigs are Omnivorous animals.

The Problems:

There is increasing awareness from doctors advocating for white meat to Red meat.

The crisis of political and tribal differences between the Northern and Southern parts of Nigeria is increasing. There is a massive boycott of cow meat hence resulting in scarcity of Red meat. Most cow and goat meat comes from the North.

My Solution:

With my piggery farm, people can trust local white meat production even when there’s no cow coming from other regions. My farm will fill the vacuum created by these indifferences, and healthy meat will always be available as advocated.

If given the grant I will:

  • Use $600 to stock 6 sows thereby increasing my sows to 10.
  • Use $200  for the animal feeds.
  • $100 for Drugs, and additives
  • $100 to transport them to my farm.

———————————————-

Total Amount Requested is                $1,000.

I have over 100 customers

How would this help your business? How will this help your business generate more income?

I have three sports where I can showcase and sell my pork meat. With more animals in stock, I can have a constant supply of meat to meet up with the high demand, and would not worry about failure and the cost of transportation.

YOUR NET INCOME

I started the business with a revenue of $50 which increased to $422 within 5 months. If I had had more money to increase my pigs my revenue would have quadrupled. With a little capital of $50, I increased my salary from $10 to $20 with an increase in profit margin from 44% to 54% within 5 months.

BUSINESS MISSION STATEMENT:

Life and service; we care about people’s well-being, healthy lifestyles, and happy family and individual. We serve families and individuals through our livestock products. My vision is to grow my farm to the level where I can rely on its produce to run a mini restaurant. Every farm product is a utility. My dream is to recycle every waste, utilize the farm space, apply my knowledge in Agriculture, and serve humanity in this Era.

SERVICE OR PRODUCT DELIVERABLE:

  1. I breed pigs, produce piglets, and rare them at different stages of bigs for sales and slaughter.
  2. I slaughter grown pigs and cook and prepare them for commercial consumers.
  3. I slaughter and prepare them as raw fresh meat for families and restaurants.

DESCRIBE YOUR BEST CUSTOMER:

My best customer is Chief Lazerus. He spends $5 on pork meat every day to give his family a happy moment. Sometimes he places an order to entertain his visitors. I also have many restaurants, mini kitchen owners, and butchers that call in to demand live pigs.

WHY CUSTOMERS DO BUSINESS WITH YOU RATHER THAN WITH YOUR COMPETITORS?

For pork production, my customers noticed that there was no trace of hairy meat in my product. It is neat and attractive. Other of my competitors do not mind those charcoal stains and hairy parts. Live animals in the pen look neat and healthy because of regular change of water in their through.

LIST YOUR SERVICES OR PRODUCTS AND THEIR PRICES:

HOW DO CUSTOMERS KNOW THAT YOU EXIST? :

I retained customers from my boss and made new customers from social media, vocal contact, and flyers.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THIS BUSINESS?

This is the business I know that I will succeed in because of my kind of person, my passion, and the environment that I live and operate in. The scalability of this business i.e. being able to increase revenue with less cost, and the inflection resistance makes it more attractive to me.

LIST YOUR TOP WAYS TO FIND NEW CUSTOMERS:

House-to-house contact

Social media

Vocal contact, and

Customer’s friends (referring).

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN IN BUSINESS?

I have been in this business for 3 years working for someone else whom I see as my boss until I decided to start my own. I had made a lot of money for my boss. In fact, we even engaged in feed production for all kinds of livestock.

I have only run my own for a few months and have made remarkable profit achievements such as having my own farm space which I am hoping to expand as more revenue comes.
