DESCRIBE YOUR BUSINESS:
At Acki Poultry Farm, we sell eggs, chicken, Manure, and dressed layer chicken. I currently sell my eggs to a boarding school and to my community which has a population of over 300,000 people. If I am given a grant I will buy 100 points of layer chicken. This will help cut costs of travel to order eggs and the product will be cheaper and easily accessible to my customers. Producing eggs in my community will cut travel and labor expenses hence my income generation will rise.
EXPLAIN THE PROBLEM
75 % of Our community members are from low-income families and depend on poultry product for their protein consumption. The community is far from supermarkets which makes it difficult for us to buy some of the basic needs like poultry products, and the products are higher in the community due to logistic challenges, more often people go without them because suppliers do not come to the community.
EXPLAIN YOUR SOLUTION.
When I did my research, I found raising layers is the only solution that will solve the problem, people will find their choice of product within the community.

I have been in this business for the past 3 months where I have managed to find a school that expressed interest in me to supply them eggs every 2 weeks.

If I am given a grant for every $235.80 in revenue the business spends$149.62 in expenses which leaves $86.18 in net income (37% profit margin) after all expenses including salary

WHY CUSTOMERS DO BUSINESS WITH YOU RATHER THAN WITH YOUR COMPETITORS?
I am the choice to my customers because I make loyalty my priority, for example, I offer to deliver our products to our customers’ homes and, offer 5 eggs to all customers who buy from us every month as a token of appreciation this has seen my relationship with them grew stronger.
HOW DO CUSTOMERS KNOW THAT YOU EXIST:
Most of my customers knew my existence because they buy eggs and vegetables from me, and others from my advertising board which is at home along the road.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THIS BUSINESS:
I choose the poultry farming business because it’s an affordable source of protein to about 75% of my community and I have a passion for it, my uncle used to raise and sell chicken and I worked for him, when he died, I raised mine and I did well in it, the money that I made, that’s what I used for my mission preparations.

- Most of my customers are by referral and social media platforms like WhatsApp groups.
- And those who pass by my house see a signboard, they come and buy.
- I visit schools to look for possible markets to supply.
